About us
Psykedelisk Portal was created by two therapists, Tobias Dinesen and Natalie Juul.
We created Psykedelisk Portal because we were missing one place that brings knowledge about psychedelics together: research, tradition and understanding. We write about what the research shows, where the traditions come from, what the risks are, and how best to prepare, or to understand and work through a psychedelic experience afterwards. The articles are in Danish, but we offer sessions in both English and Danish.
The times we live in
We are in the middle of what is called the psychedelic renaissance. After decades of silence, universities and hospitals are researching psychedelics again, in Denmark too (read about the history of psychedelics, in Danish). Researchers are studying whether psychedelics can help with conditions such as depression, PTSD and addiction. The results are promising, but there is also a lot we don't know yet.
At the same time, more and more people are struggling. In Denmark, the share of people with poor mental health has risen sharply since 2010, especially among young women (Danish Health Authority). New ways of meeting this are needed, and many people are looking for answers themselves.
We also live in a time of great change. Much of what we took for granted is shifting, and something new is emerging. That brings uncertainty, but also openness to new paths.
In the middle of all this, we want to be a clear and safe voice: a light at a time when so much feels uncertain, and a place with knowledge you can trust.
Why we created the portal
In our work, people often ask us where they can read more about psychedelics. About the different substances, about contraindications, about preparing, about the nervous system and about integration afterwards. We have not had a good place to send them. Most of what is out there is scattered: personal stories, things people have heard, and things they have read somewhere.
We also meet people who travel a long way to take part in traditional ceremonies without really knowing what they are getting into. They know little about the substance or the culture the tradition comes from. Some come home shaken, and alone with what they went through.
That is why we created Psykedelisk Portal: one place with up-to-date knowledge, grounded in research and sources. You will find the research, the traditions and support with preparation and with understanding an experience, alongside risks and contraindications. Somewhere you can find fact-based knowledge, instead of relying on what others say or what an AI tells you.
The portal is not only about psychedelics. It is about people: the body, the nervous system, the mind, and the change an experience can set in motion.
What the portal can give you
Many people describe their life as a journey: a journey inwards, learning to feel themselves and to grow. For some, psychedelics become part of that journey. Wherever you are on yours, we want to give you knowledge to stand on.
Freedom in knowledge. When you can find and understand knowledge yourself, you don't have to depend on what others tell you. That gives you independence, freedom and strength in your own decisions.
Preparation and integration. Understanding and good preparation are the best place to begin. And if an experience has set something in motion, you can get support in understanding and working through it afterwards.
A safe place, free of judgment. As therapists, we don't judge anyone for their curiosity or their wish to explore. Not even if something went wrong. You are welcome here, wherever you are.
How we see psychedelics
We see psychedelics as one possible way to get to know yourself better: to notice the patterns you live by, and to get in touch with what lies beneath the surface. We also believe that, for example, a dedicated meditation practice can lead to similar places.
Psychedelics are not necessarily a shortcut, and they don't fix anything on their own. But for some people, they can open a door they didn't know was there. That takes care, preparation and knowledge, including knowing what the law says. It is the foundation for good integration.
What the portal is not
The portal does not encourage anyone to take psychedelics, and we don't sell them. We are not here to tell you whether psychedelics are right or wrong for you. We want to give you the knowledge to make up your own mind. The portal is not a substitute for medical advice.
It is the place we always wished we had. It feels meaningful to build it, so that others can use it too.

We write the articles ourselves, each drawing on our own professional background and in our own voice. Some articles we write separately, others together. Whoever is named as author has read and approved the text. We use AI tools to help find research, draft and check sources, but we always decide what is published. Every figure and research claim links to the specific study. We write soberly: promising findings, disappointing findings and what we don't know. We review the sources roughly every three months.
